The Monarch Butterfly's journey can be up to 1,000 miles along the west coast of the US and Mexico. This particular cluster was in Goleta, California.
The island of Kauai in Hawaii has a way of slowing down life and this twisting road with its 25 MPH Speed Limit is a greater reminder to slow down and enjoy life.
La Quinta, California offers a relaxed vibe and a variety of hiking trails. This picture taken at the top of La Quinta Cove is the beginning of several great hikes.
We have a rule when we travel to Hawaii to never miss a sunset. The lighting on this day coupled with the foreground catamaran remind me many great sunsets over the years.
"Crawfish" Eddie Walker built a shack on stilts above the water in 1933, toward the end of the prohibition era, allegedly to facilitate gambling, which was legal at one mile offshore. Crawfish Eddie sold bait and beer from his shack and was known for a dish he called chilau, a crawfish chowder made with crawfish he caught under his shack.
Waking up at 3am to journey to the top of Haleakalā National Park Maui, Hawaii to watch sunrise did not disappoint. Unique perspective above the Clouds where you almost feel like can see the curve of the earth.
The terrain at the top of Haleakala Crater looms 10,023 feet above the Pacific Ocean, taking up three-quarters of Maui’s 727 square miles. Its ascent takes trekkers through 6 of the world’s 14 climate zones. The entirety of the park, which comprises 33,265 acres, holds more endangered species than any other U.S. National Park.
This picture taken in Carmel, California is one of my favourite silohettes. Shows how people of all types enjoy gathering to watch the sun disappear below the Pacific Ocean.
Symmetry is all around us and this photograph taken at the Salton Sea in California is a great example. Over millions of years, the Colorado River has flowed into the Imperial Valley and deposited soil (creating fertile farmland), building up the terrain and constantly changing the course of the river.
A day hike on Hayman Island, Australia provided this amazing view of the Coral Sea that leads to the Great Barrier Reef. I love mixing black and white and color together in my landscapes.
This sunrise photograph with the silohouette of the famous Sydney Opera House was well worth waking up at 4am while traveling in Australia. The Opera House is one of the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings and I think the silohouette works extremey well because of this fact.
Monterey Harbor with the Monterey Bay in the background on a typical overcast day. I love the calming effect this picture has on me and in thinking about the many adventures taken on the pictured sailboats and the many that came before.
Sometimes a photograph can just really capture the mood of a moment just like you were still there today. This beautiful picture of Pacific Grove, California is one of those pictures for me.
One of my favorite photographs because of how it truly captured that moment while walking the Northern California coastline in Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula. Having been fortunate to have traveled to many places, this coastline is truly some of the most amazing and most beautiful in the world.
It's the small victories in life that are so rewarding. Late one afternoon after a day at the office, I ventured down to Laguna Beach, California and captured this awesome shot at the small quaint Victoria Beach. The water looks like milk frozen in time against the bright orange sky. It's all about getting out, for without getting out these moments are gone forever. Not this one.
The ever changing sky during sunsets can be so mesmerizing. This photograph was captured on the same day as my “A Splash of Sunset” picture at Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach, California. Same location and moments last, but the colors are extremely different. Photography is about being patient and waiting for the unique moments in time.

The Cove in La Quinta California provides a great opportunity to enjoy the diverse yet beautiful desert landscape. This particular version of my photograph provides my artistic rendition of The Cove.
Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii offers both amazing sunrises and sunsets. Hawaii has always been a go to destination for many reasons, but gaining three hours and waking up early is at the top of list due to the opportunity to easily enjoy both sunrise and sunset.
Another sunrise photograph from Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii.
One of those special moments enjoying a sunset where the colours change rapidly. Was happy to have captured this one in Kapalua Bay, Maui.
Another sunrise photograph literally frozen in time. The sunrise alone is inspiring, but the frozen splash from the incoming tide adds to the idea of capturing a moment in time that will never repeat again.
Another morning and another opportunity to wake up early to capture sunrise and reflect on life. Nothing like capturing both sunrise and sunset in the same day.
One of my more memoriable sunrises that I have been lucky to experienced by waking up early in Kapalua Bay, Hawaii.
The island of Moloka'i as the backdrop for a sunset off the coast of Maui.
10 minutes later, the island of Moloka'i as the backdrop for a sunset off the cost of Maui.
This photograph captures the silhouette Moloka'i emerging from the Pacific Ocean. Another reason we love Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii.
The Road to Hana in Maui, Hawaii provides for some inspiring scenery, but this photograph is not from the main section of the popular drive. The main portion of the Road to Hana in and of itself is a long drive, but if you make the decision to keep going it is REALLY long. Thirteen hours after leaving our Condo in Kapalua Bay, we made it back. The reward is a road less traveled that provides a very different landscape with a lot less people.
This picture is a good reminder to look up every once in a while while walking. This photo, that maybe seems like its in a remote rainforest hike, was suprisingly taken in a hotel parking lot. It reminds me of a MRI of the heart.
The Monterey Peninsula provides for some of the world’s best golf courses. This picture from the memorable 14th hole on the Dunes course at the exclusive Monterey Peninsula Country Club provides just a small glimpse. In case you’re wondering…I got a boogie.
I have to thank my wife for finding this amazing location in Iceland. I could have stayed and taken picture in this area for the entire day.
Iceland is full of rivers, streams and waterfalls. Everywhere you look your eyes will follow the water into beautiful landscapes. This picture was taken alongside the primary highway that circles the island.
Located on the south side of Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Iceland. Búðakirkja is a local parish church still operational today and dates back to 1703. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, this quaint black church is one of the most photographed churches in Iceland.
Different perspective of this iconic and highly photographed church in Iceland.
The rugged landscape of Iceland constantly provides interesting surprises. This picture caught my wife and I completely off guard, but provided a unique perspective none the less.
While traveling in Iceland our cottage in Arnarstapi had this very cool tightly cropped picture of some coastal rock formations. The next day after about a 10 minute drive we ventured down to the coast and found this amazing location. The picture from the cottage was a close up of this exact spot. I like the long-exposure wider angle rendition, but the motivation was that cottage picture.

Driving the roads of Iceland we pulled over for a small break. Upon getting out of the car I heard the faint sound of a waterfall and after a 8 minute stroll found this lonely waterfall just flowing away for no one to see.
Waterfalls can be challenging to photograph as you try and find that balance between a motion blurred falls or a frozen in time falls. This waterfall named Skógafoss in Iceland is extremely popular and finding an angle that provided a picturesque view without including one of the many hundred tourist was a fun challenge. Or maybe I should let your imagination believe that I was alone in a remote location with this spectacular waterfall.
It's hard to tell what came first the massive rock formation in the field or the structures that appear to be overtaken by the rock. Iceland is filled with magical scenes like this everywhere you look!
Iceland is home to many glaciers and for the adventurous photographer they provide for some unique photographic opportunities.
Amazing experience driving out onto glacier in Iceland to capture some unique photographic perspectives in a white barren world.
Gullfoss, Iceland is home to this unqiue watefall from the Hvítá river. The location was interstingly used by Echo and the Bunnyman for their 1993 Porcupine album.
This long-exposure along Newport Coast exposes the life filled rock formations that are homes to various types of sea life.
Driving around Ireland never fails in finding beautiful historic ruins that call to imagination the industries from the late 1800's. In this case an old cooper mine complex established in 1824 and decommissioned in 1877.
St. Colman's Cathederal in Cohb, Ireland took 47 years to complete this monolithic Catholic place of worship. It took over 1 hour trying to find this great vantage point featuring the colorful "deck of cards" houses.
The Dingle Peninsula or Corca Dhuibhne, stretches 30 miles into the Atlantic Ocean on the south-west coast on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. The magnificent coastline consists of steep sea-cliffs and dramatic headlands broken by sandy beaches.
One of Ireland's most visited tourism spots, The Cliff of Moher are hard to capture in a single photo.
Off the coast of California near Carmel this two rock islands provide a simple scene in the vast blue of the Pacific Ocean.
Mollymook, 2.5 hours south of Sydney has a relaxed vibe. This picture was taken at the pool at Bannisters by the Sea.
Simple landscape containing rows of grape vines protected from wind prone landscape by line of trees. Devil's Corner Winery, in Tasmania, Australia.
Most days you do not see the top of Mount Wellington that rises to 5.170 feet above sea level and provides panoramic vistas of Hobart below.
I use to think that some trees in Southern California were big until I came to Australia where trees are all so big. This example is in the Hobart Botanical Gardens Tasmania, Australia.
The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are truly stunning and a great place to escape from life's hectic pace.
